Bamboo and Its Happy Companions: Tribe X Bamboo Forest Ecology Experience Day

Taoyuan City’s Fuxing District is the second largest bamboo production base after Hsinchu. For the indigenous Tayal people of Taoyuan, bamboo is an essential material in daily life. Whether for utensils or housing, bamboo plays a significant role. To promote the bamboo industry activities in Fuxing District, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Department of the Council of Agriculture, National Central University’s General Education Center, and the Taoyuan City Fuxing Bamboo Industry Development Association have collaborated to organize this special trip.

  • Participants: Up to 15 people per session (with 5 additional slots on standby; selection based on registration order)
  • Event Dates: May 11 (Saturday), June 15 (Saturday) from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Target Audience: May 11 (Saturday) is limited to NCU students only; June 15 (Saturday) is open to NCU faculty, staff, and external participants. Participants must be at least 15 years old.
  • Location: Kapu Tribe, Fuxing District, Taoyuan City
  • Transportation: Gather at National Central University and take a tour bus. NCU faculty, staff, and external participants who choose to travel independently should refer to the assembly point specified in the acceptance notice.
  • Registration: After filling out the form, acceptance and standby notifications will be sent out on April 24 (Wednesday).
  • Fee: Fully subsidized by the National Central University’s Forestry and Nature Conservation Department’s Rural Regeneration Project “Production and Ecology: Bamboo Harvesting and New Aspects of Tribal Life.”
  • Note: In case of weather or other force majeure factors, the event will be postponed by one week and further details will be provided.

We are thrilled to announce that Yisheng Village has successfully achieved the One-Star Resilient Community Certification from the Ministry of the Interior. This milestone was reached through our team’s dedicated efforts to utilize existing resources and past activities to support Yisheng Village’s application. The village head anticipates that this certification will help consolidate disaster prevention resources and enhance the village’s resilience.

Our team remains committed to supporting Fuxing District in advancing disaster prevention and resilience initiatives.

This position involves a mix of office work, field exploration, and community engagement focused on sustainability issues. As part of the National Central University College of Engineering’s mbhoyaw “Fuxing”—a cross-disciplinary USR project emphasizing sustainability—the role extends to the [Rural Revitalization Fund Project], which focuses on bamboo harvesting and community life.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher, with proficiency in document processing (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  2. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, a passion for learning, and effective communication and coordination abilities.
  3. Interest: Enthusiasm for environmental education, indigenous cultures, sustainable development, community engagement, and bamboo industry topics.
  4. Experience: Experience in organizing events and meetings, liaising with vendors, and exploring local industry issues.
  5. Travel: Willingness to travel to Taoyuan City’s Fuxing District (mountainous areas), with a valid driver’s license and driving experience.
  6. Application Requirements: Applicants must explain their understanding of the mbhoyaw “Fuxing” USR project and propose how they can contribute effectively to the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience: Background in environmental education, sustainability project planning, and execution.
  2. Administrative Skills: Experience in administrative document handling.
  3. Additional Skills: Proficiency in video editing and event planning.
  4. Supporting Documents: Provide relevant work samples, images, or documentation related to the preferred qualifications.

Job Details:

– Role: Assist in implementing the [Rural Revitalization Fund Project], focusing on bamboo harvesting and community life.

– Unit: General Education Center, National Central University.

– Location: Office and fieldwork primarily in Taoyuan City’s Fuxing District.

– Tasks: Support bamboo industry development activities, including ESG integration, bamboo forest tours, and local industry development.

Employment Terms:

– Duration: Start from the actual date of employment, with a 3-month probation period. Upon successful completion, employment will continue until December 31, 2024.

– Compensation: Salary negotiable or based on National Central University’s staff remuneration standards, including labor insurance, health insurance, pension contributions, and year-end bonus as per regulations.

Responsibilities:

– As a “Wen Ying Fuxing” reporter, you’ll join us in the mountains during your free time to participate in engaging activities and capture them with both your camera and writing. Your work will be showcased on our project website! (We provide the necessary photography equipment.)

Assist in the execution of the “Rural Revitalization Fund Project” on bamboo harvesting and indigenous lifestyles, based at the General Education Center. Duties involve traveling to Taoyuan City’s Fuxing District or related locations.

Employment Period:

– Start: From the actual date of employment, with a 3-month probation period. Upon successful completion, employment will extend until December 31, 2024. Continuation in 2025 will depend on performance evaluations and budget availability.

Compensation:

– Salary will be discussed or aligned with National Central University’s full-time employee standards, including labor insurance, health insurance, pension, and year-end bonuses.
