Aquaponics System

In the previous phase, students collaborated with Changxing Elementary School to design a four-session, hands-on water resource project course—H2O Green Equation. This course focused on building an aquaponics system and implementing smart sensors, engaging elementary school children in the practical process. Additionally, a fish-vegetable symbiosis and food and agriculture education camp was held at Youyou Xiayun Fish-Vegetable Symbiotic Farm, with participation from Yisheng Elementary and Zhongzheng Elementary School students. The students also took home small-scale aquaponics system models to operate within their schools.

Moving forward, the student team continued to improve the small-scale aquaponics system at Yisheng Elementary School, relocating it outdoors to address the issue of insufficient light exposure. In collaboration with mechanical engineering graduate students, the team designed and built an aquaponics system for San Guang Elementary School. During a three-day, two-night sustainable environment education camp, they guided San Guang students through the principles of aquaponics and system decoration. The system will be further refined based on the school’s operational needs.
