It has been nearly six years since the implementation of the ‘Logging Ban Compensation Act.’ Even bamboo that started growing in the year of its implementation is now nearing the end of its life. The sight of dead and fallen bamboo, unable to regenerate naturally, has become common across bamboo forests in mountainous areas. While the intention behind ecological conservation is good, it seems to have lost its direction when it comes to bamboo harvesting.
