Three teachers, 10 graduate students, and 2 assistants were packed into 4 cars. They overcome all obstacles on the way, like the missing of the high speed railway, a flat tire, and car sick. They finally arrived at the hall of Yi Sheng Primary School. The pupils of different ages stared at the stage with their glittering eyes. The topic today is the introduction to energy. To them, it may seem a little difficult. Fortunately, the lively presentation of the teachers did not make these children feel bored.
They were introduced to the six major forms of energy: solar energy, hydro energy, wind power, bioenergy, thermal energy, and ocean energy. This was followed by the lesson of handcraft, which we love and hate at the same time. Before we came, we tested the teaching aids of handcraft, including wind power farms, solar energy windmills, and hydroelectric power dams. It is far from difficult but requires tremendous patience and attention to complete.
“Teacher, I used to be working very slowly, but I can work very quickly now as you are here!” A little girl said with a sweet smile. Pupils at grade 4 are very clever. The big brothers and sisters are business helping the pupils of lower grades. This little girl looks very smart and assembles the model skillfully. She does not need additional attention. One could easily find out that she is repeating the same step. Yet, her spirit and persistence earn our respect. A clever kid could do anything by giving a small hint. She has a sense of achievement as she sees her work is about to complete.
Honestly, we gain more from these children than they do from us! They enthusiastically participate in various lessons, absorbing the knowledge and stories brought by the older brothers and sisters. They reciprocate with their innocence and enthusiasm. Every time we visit, we are amazed by their growth. This inspires us to be more serious, to listen to their words, share our experiences sincerely, and connect with them genuinely. We hope they will grow strong and flourish like mighty trees, thriving endlessly on this land.
