The Social Participation Workshop continued with the topic of aquaponics, which has been carried forward from the last semester. We once again held the food agriculture education camp for the pupils of Chung Cheng Primary School to register for participation. In the camp, Miss Chen and Miss Huang led the pupils to learn about the principle of aquaponics, see how the system works, and explain to them herbs and herbal medicine so that they could understand the basics of aquaponics and easily differentiate the physical appearance and effect of herbal medicine.
At the camp, I acted as the supervisor of the team and led the children in preparing lunch. In the preparation process, I learned to pay closer attention to everything in our surroundings and helped the children to experience the camp fully for this time and ensure their safety. The main axis of the event of this time was the production of a small-scale aquaponics system by ourselves and we led the children to experience the assembly work and understand the basic functioning of the system.
As compared with the food agriculture camp of the last time, I have better opportunity to get closer to the children and experienced the proper way of guiding them in the activities. I become more detail-oriented and patient. It is a laborious task to organize the camp, but I feel I learned more. This is a great opportunity. I am longing for the next food agriculture education camp.

In the camp of this time, I acted as the supervisor of the team and led the pupils to learn and participate in different activities, to learn about herbs and herbal medicine as explained by the teachers, and the method of plant growing in the aquaponics system, like floating raft, raised bed, and container cultivation.
At noon, we used the herbs and herbal medicine from the farm to prepare food for lunch, and taught the pupils and their parents to make Sushi, rice dumpling, sweet potato cake, and salad. Four teams tasted the food and nominated the best dish. We all share the fruit of our laborious work and feel the charm of aquaponics.
I still remember at the final moment of the camp that the pupils surrounded the big brothers and big sisters, and asked us if we will organize this kind of camp again. This means that they are very interesting in aquaponics. I could not be more happy. It is because every kid who is intereted in sustainability may help to change the world, which is filled with pollution. There is also one more person who has the idea of concern for the ecology. There will be better hope. To me, this is the most meaningful part of this camp.

We organized the 2nd aquaponics education camp at Youxiayun Aquaponics Farm. The participants for this time are the pupils from Chung Cheng Primary School. As different from the last time, we have more participants and the size is bigger. The Headmaster, teachers, parents of pupils of Chung Cheng Primary School are also the participants. Therefore, we have adjusted our activity plan.
The main difference is that we combined lunch DIY with games, among other things. In the camp of the last time, these two activities have not been nicely planned and the result was not ideal. We combined the two for this time. Through lunch DIY, and the competitive nature of the games in scoring, pupils are more eager to participate. They could understand that only hard work yields result as they received the awards.
