The resurgence of the pandemic affected the aquaponics system program previously planned to hold at Chang Hsing Primary School. After discussion with the school, we decided to change the program as online education program. This is the first time we work with Chang Hsing Primary School online.
To overcome the sense of distance through online education, the big brothers sought to understand how the teachers and the pupils of the school run the aquaponics system in the last few months in the first place and if they have any difficulty or problem to be solved. Failure to add water at regular intervals appeared to be a direct challenge. The children have observed the system from time to time, and the teachers also checked the system very carefully at regular intervals, but the water in the fish pond at the lower layer has always been overlooked by them.
For facilitating the problem of refilling water, the big brothers has designed a lesson on handcraft to make a water-level sensor. You just have to install the sensor on the side of the fish pond, it will chime if the water level falls below the alert level. At this point, refilling will be much easier. The handcraft lesson was given online, and it was the first time the task force they made this attempt. The big brothers are very nervous and think hard to ensure the children can clearly view the process without being bored. They also have to keep track of the progress of the children through the camera.
They could only interact with the children through the camera on that day due to the problem of the pandemic. Yet, the children were very energetic. The problem of equipment and network have to be tackled within the course of teaching, but everyone is so serious and indulgent and completes the water-level sensor together. The children of Chang Hsing Primary School and we did not relax, albeit under the influence of the pandemic, and continue to run the aquaponics system. We hope we could see each other again after the pandemic is over.
