What is a Smart Grid? Renewable energy and electric vehicles challenge the logic of centralized power generation that has existed for over a century, shifting towards decentralized power generation. This transformation puts immense pressure on the current power systems for electricity dispatch. As a result, countries are beginning to reform their traditional grids into smart grids to address issues such as the “duck curve,” with the aim of enabling renewable energy to fulfill its low-carbon mission.
